5 Tips for natural skincare for your baby

5 tips voor de gevoelige babyhuid

As a parent you want the best for your baby. But how do you find the right products to care for their sensitive skin? It is important to realize that a baby's skin is different from that of an adult and therefore needs special care. For example, babies and small children are more likely to suffer from eczema, red rashes, acne or dry skin. That is Together with sleep and restlessness coach Melanie, we are happy to give you a number of tips for the optimal care of your little one.

Melanie: The first 1000 days are extremely important, from conception to 24 months. Everything that happens during this period affects the rest of your child's life. Think about what food you give, but also what kind of care products you use. When parents come to me for a Sleep & Unrest consultation, I look holistically at the sleep problem. They also receive samples of natural care products from me. With this I want to give parents a push in the right direction, so that they can offer their child a good start from all sides.

1. Use natural products

There are currently many care products on the market that are 'specially made for babies'. Because all these products are for sale especially for babies, you as a parent assume that this will be good for your child. Unfortunately this is not the case. Your baby's skin is sensitive and can be easily irritated by harsh chemicals. Therefore choose natural products that are gentle on your baby's skin. Happy Earth Baby products are made from 100% natural ingredients and are free of chemicals.

2. Pay attention to the perfume in products

Many care products contain substances that disrupt the hormone balance and have a neurotoxic effect, such as perfume. Also avoid Phenoxyethanol, because this is a chemical substance that kills bacteria that, when inhaled, can cause irritation of the respiratory tract, headaches and disturbed functioning of the central nervous system. This also has a very drying effect because it has a degreasing effect. Other ingredients you want to avoid are SLS, ALES, Silicones, Parabens, Mineral oils, PEG and all types of aluminum. Happy Earth Baby products are free of all these chemicals and the perfume consists of natural essential oils.

 3. Be careful with eczema

Eczema is something I unfortunately often see. This is a common condition in babies and can be aggravated by harsh grooming products. Therefore, choose hypoallergenic products without harsh chemicals so that the skin does not irritate and dry out further.

4. Prevent diaper rash

Keep your baby's diaper area clean and dry to prevent diaper rash. Change the diaper regularly and use a soft cloth to clean the area. In addition, apply a thin layer of natural diaper ointment or cream to protect the skin. For example, choose the Happy Earth diaper cream

5. Avoid bathing too much

While bathing your baby is important, too much bathing can also dry out the skin. Therefore, keep bath time short and use a mild soap specially designed for babies such as the Soap-free Wash & Bath Gel from Happy Earth
